Currently I am a senior at Ferris State University. I am expecting to graduate in May of 2016 with a Bachelors degree in Marketing and a minor in Advertising. I am seeking a challenging and mutually rewarding marketing position with an innovative and growing company, upon graduation. I wish to create value through the organization by gaining experience in customer service, solutions, and product marketing while demonstrating creative thinking, teamwork and leadership abilities.
As a student I also worked as an Assistant Manager at Jet's Pizza. In this position I was able to develop customer service, customer solution, scheduling and forecasting skills. On average I was responsible for 10 crew members each shift.
On campus I served as the Vice President of Finance for the American Marketing Association of Ferris State for the 2015-2016 academic year. In that role I was responsible for assisting in planning and budgeting over 80 events. AMA Ferris is the largest student group in the College of Business and is recognized as a 5 Star Student Organization on campus. In the community our group is very active. This year I registered 50 hours of community service. Nationally AMA Ferris earned 11th place of 365 chapters across the country based on our efforts as a professional group. This year I was also a part of the AMA Ferris Case Team which placed 2nd in the Hersey Case Competition. In this international competition, we were judge on an entire marketing plan for Hersey's product Ice Breakers Cool Blast Chews, which we prepared over a 10-month period. In addition to these commitments, a fellow member and I competed in the International Collegiate Marketing Strategy Competition. Sponsored by eBay, this competition is a 20-minute preparation of a suggestive strategy, followed by a 7-minute presentation and 3 minutes of questions from the judges. Of 98 teams, we placed as Semi-Finalist.
On campus I also served as the Marketing Intern at the Ferris State Ice Arena this year. This position gave me real marketing and sales experience. I was responsible for promoting arena events utilizing the FSU Ice Arena's communication channels within the community. This included the control of the social media accounts, website, press releases and in-game announcements. I also worked to develop an email database for the arena to help target local community members outside the student population. Currently the list is up to 577 contacts and arena program participation is up 22%. In addition to online experiences I also took initiative in seeking out partnerships with local businesses regarding varies events at the arena including the Big Rapids Adult League, and the 3 on 3 Tournaments. This helped me develop some sales experience creating 8 new relationships for the arena. As a side project I also assisted in establishing the Little Kevin Hockey Hope Fund brand image through the logo design, brochures, press releases and scholarship applications. This project was very rewarding and the fund founder recognized me for my efforts.
Through my experiences with these roles I have developed a skill set that can compliment any team. I am a team player, creative thinker, and dedicated worker. I am excited for the future and my search for employment.
